Random Thoughts & Writing Prompts
I’m working on seven (7) collections/projects right now. Send help. Or a publisher who wants to give me $.
The school year has begun and my classroom did not drop below 80 degrees last week. But here are the guiding thoughts:
What my sophomores hear everyday: “It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see” ~ Thoreau
What my seniors hear everyday: “We’re all going to die. What are you doing with the time you have?” (And yes, of course we’ve already read Mary Oliver’s “The Summer Day.”)
If you have the stomach, sift through that old box of unorganized photos you have laying about.

Recent Publications
One of the projects I'm currently working on is a collection of ekphrastic poems. Fevers of the Mind recently published a Poetry Showcase of five poems which may be contained within this collection:
“Arbol de la Vida”
“Morning Sun”
“Flora, Meeting House Hill Cemetery, Princeton/Enslaved by Governor Moses Gill and Rebecca Boylston Gill”
“Woman Who Once Had Wings,” and
“October 19, 2022.”
Each piece is a response to a work of art or other artifact (e.g. gravestone, legal documents, newspaper article). You can access links to the original artifacts on my website.
I’ve been dabbling in prose again. My creative nonfiction piece "Being Present" was published in Porcupine Literary . I’m really proud of this one.
At the moment I have work forthcoming in Molecule, New York Quarterly, Pensive, and The Worcester Review. Hopefully more to come. We won’t talk about the number of rejections.
